GL Announces New Headwriting Teams! »

Christopher Dunn, Lloyd "Lucky" Gold and Jill Lorie Hurst have been appointed Headwriters of broadcast history's longest running program, Guiding Light, as announced today by the show's Executive Producer Ellen Wheeler. Dunn, Gold and Lorie Hurst will join current Headwriter David Kreizman to create two new headwriting teams that will work together to bring their vision to the screen.

"I am thrilled about the new roles that David, Jill, Chris and Lucky will play on the headwriting teams at Guiding Light," said Wheeler. "Since Guiding Light adopted its revolutionary new production model at the start of the year, we have made major changes to nearly every aspect of how we produce the show. I believe that appointing collaborative headwriting teams will help to expand the show's vision and storytelling ability in this new model. Our new headwriting teams are made up of extraordinarily talented individuals who all respect the rich history of Guiding Light and are all very dedicated to mining that history for the future success of the show."

Jessica Leccia ("Natalia") and Brian Malloy were married on May 3 at the Gran Melia Resort in Puerto Rico. Joining Jessica and Brian were some of her Guiding Light co-stars (Murray Bartlett, Beth Ehlers, Ricky Paull Goldin and Caitlin VanZandt).

Tina Sloan (Lillian) Celebrates 25 years! »

Tina Sloan (“Lillian”) is celebrating her 25th anniversary with Guiding Light this month. Tina joined the show in 1983. Beth Chamberlin has played her daughter since 1989 and had this to say about Tina, “To say that Tina is the best TV mom anyone could ask for, doesn't begin to touch just how much she has meant to me over the years. She has protected me, mentored me, inspired me and prodded me (I occasionally need this). By her example, she has taught me to be a better actress, friend, and co-worker. She is gracious, elegant and vivacious. The Los Angeles Times has reported the passing of Beverlee McKinsey who played Alexandra Spaulding from 1984 until 1992, www.legacy.com. Guidinglight.net will feature a vintage “Alexandra” clip in the coming weeks as a tribute to Beverlee.

A New Look for GL »

Guiding Light has announced plans to take on a revolutionary new production model. The production changes, which will take effect immediately and begin airing on CBS on Feb. 29, 2008, will bring a modern, more realistic look to the show, allowing viewers to be entertained by the stories and characters they love in a more intimate way.

Guiding Light's new model will represent an end-to-end transformation in the way the show is created, from direction to editing to scenic design. Permanent sets inside the show's New York City studio will now feature four walls and a ceiling and will increase in number from eight to forty, allowing viewers to see much more of the fictional town of Springfield. Handheld cameras will shoot the actors inside the sets and deliver a higher level of realism and intimacy to the audience. In addition to the changes inside the studio, the show has adopted the town of Peapack, NJ to shoot all of its exterior scenes, which will total approximately 20% of production--an unprecedented amount for a contemporary daytime drama.
